Tasting - Frontera Merlot
1)
2)
3) Frontera, Merlot, Chile, Concha y Toro winery near Santiago, 2009, $5
4) Review from viviano: Bold red wine aged 11 years tastes a little like red fruit nd black fruits used to make cough syrup nice tawny color still drinkable
5) From Wine folly pages 131-132, Merlot is loved for its boisterous black cherry flavors, supple tannins, and smokey or chocolatey finish. Flavors shown are cherry, plum, chocolate, dried herbs, and vanilla. Grown mostly in france but found in lots of places
6) I drank this with no food. smells like dark cherries and even smells a little heavy. doesnt have a lot of fruit flavors. tastes very bold but not overly tannic. tastes oaky and like I am drinking dirt. definitely not my thing. Overall: 6.3/10
